Champoux
Collector's Case $645.00

Here's
a case of three Champoux Vineyard reds of surpassing
excellence.
------------> It's
a thoughtful gift for the serious wine collector. <------------
Champoux Vineyard is owned
jointly by Andrew Will, Woodward Canyon,
and Quilceda Creek. Wines made from its fruit
are the most sought after from Washington
State. The Collector's Case contains four each
of the following three wines:
Andrew Will Champoux Red 04 $59.95
44% Cab/22% Merlot/25% Cab Franc/9%
Petit Verdot
Wow the nose! Impossibly
inviting aromas of sweet black cherry pie
with black raspberry, dark chocolate, and
hints of baking spice.
The Champoux fruit core is dense, wound up
with black and red red fruit in innummerable
layers. Supple and silky with powder-fine
tannins. The whole wine is wrapped with a
delicate Bordeaux-like herbal note that adds
complexity like the sizzle of a jazz ride
cymbal--it just fits. Give it air, give it
time and you'll see why this is one of the
finest wines from one of the finest vineyards
in the entire Pacific Northwest. - ml
Woodward Canyon
Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon 03 $60.00
Parker 91, Wine Enthusiast 93, Tastings 94
The Champoux Vineyard contains a small "Old
Vine" section where the most sought after fruit
is grown. This wine's fruit comes from that
block. 2003 was a very hot vintage and Rick
uses the ripe fruit to make a huge, structured
but quite forward Cabernet Sauvignon. Unusually
approachable now, yet has the backbone to age
well for 8-12 years.
Fidelitas Champoux Vineyard Cabernet 04 $54.00/$60.00
Just released this week, and
very limited as the 2004 vintage was small,
the grapes that did make it to maturity were
very richly flavored. Winemaker Charlie Hoppes'
style is dense, dark, massive, and over-the-top.
Black fruit, cocoa, toasted espresso bean,
saddle leather, vanilla, spice, and huge toast
combine in a crowd pleasing package.
