Looking for some great values in Italian reds and whites?  This Saturday, Vineria Italia will be pouring some excellent wines, from a crisp and refreshing Trebbiano to a Barbera d’Alba to a decadent sparkling orange Muscat.  Think summer picnic with an Italian twist.

I know, it’s not officially summer for another 3 weeks but can’t we pretend?  Avalon has the right warm-weather wine for any meal or for sitting on your porch.  If your taste is for Chardonnay, try one of the Evesham Wood Chards or the highly-rated Schug Sonoma Chard (not your typical buttery California Chard).  For local Pinot Gris, the brand new release of the Lumos “Rudolfo” Pinot Gris ’06 is downright perfect for warm-weather sipping.  Feeling adventurous?  Come in, tell us your mood, and we’ll match it with a wine.

Fans of Oregon Pinot

Take note: the 2005 Coeur de Terre Estate Pinot Noir, for $28, is incredible.  I consider it one of the best under-$30 Oregon Pinots available—easily.  Other new 2005 Pinots that you should try: Belle Pente Willamette Valley, Andrew Rich Cuvee “B”, and Gypsy Dancer Gary & Christine’s Vineyard (for the fan of bigger Pinots).
