Hello from Marcus at Avalon Wine -

Beauties from Buty—Spring Releases and Small Quantities

For the past couple years, I’ve looked forward to early March.  Why?  Many spring releases from some of my favorite Washington producers.  Buty is one of them.

The new Buty red wines—the exceptional, rare 2004 Rediviva of the Stones and the refined, elegant 2005 Merlot/Cab Franc blend—are here!

Buty red blends buck the norm:

the 2004 Rediviva of the Stones is 72% Syrah and 28%,
entirely from the cobblestones of the famed Cailloux Vineyard.
The 2005 Columbia Valley Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend is 61% Merlot and 39% Cab Franc, from the Conner Lee and Champoux Vineyards.

The 2004 Rediviva of the Stones is incredibly limited
due to the freeze in Walla Walla in early 2004..

Equally as mouth watering are the Buty white wines:

the 2005 Conner Lee Vineyard Chardonnay and the
2005 Semillon (73%)/Sauvignon Blanc (27%) blend.  The Chardonnay, re-tasted last week, is among the finest Northwest Chardonnays, with a wonderfully round texture, voluminous fruit, and perfectly integrated (and mellow) oak.  The Semillon/Sauv Blanc blend is the ideal match for seafood or grilled chicken, and is bursting with liveliness.

O-S Winery (Owen Sullivan) Red Table 2005 $18.86/$20.95
Best Deal Washington Wine!

Each vintage, Bill Owen makes a steal of a red blend sourced from Champoux, Sheridan, and Klipsun Vineyards.  It’s so new, we haven’t even tasted it yet!  If it is as good as the 2004, it won’t last long. A big, juicy, slurpable red, one to buy in case lots and make your personal "house wine".

(Just to let you know: lots of Washington winemakers I’ve talked to recently
are REALLY excited about their 2005 wines).
