Owen Roe's Abbot's Table Red Wine 2007
"THE Crowd Pleaser"

The 2007 Abbot's Table ($18.85/$20.94)
re-defines "crowd-pleaser." It's an every-person wine. The aromas ooze with sweet red and black fruit, highlighted by berry blossoms - you can sense the contributions from the Cab Franc and Grenache. The Merlot delivers rich plums, the Zinfandel fat black cherries, the Sangiovese Bing cherries and structure. All the grapes work in harmony, melding into layers of delight.

Winemaker David O'Reilly will often forego making a single varietal wine (like Zinfandel or Sangiovese) in order to achieve the perfect blend for the Abbot's Table. Some red table wines are made from barrels that didn't quite fit into the premium wines. The Abbot's Table is intentional, from vineyard to bottle.

Abbot's Table has something for everybody. A blend of ten! different red grape varietals, including Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Syrah, Malbec, Petit Sirah, Cinsault, and Pinot noir.

Abbot's Table 2007 from Owen RoeAbbot's Table pairs with dozens of foods. The Zinfandel in Abbot's pairs beautifully with duck and beef. The Sangiovese adds a Tuscan twist and complements zesty Italian fare. The Bordeaux varieties scream for hearty dishes. The Syrah and Grenache work masterfully with spicy cuisine. Then again, the Abbot’s Table just tastes great by itself.

If you like smooth, luscious black cherry flavors, try
Owen Roe Zinfandel 05 $32.36/$35.95

Flavors of candied red cherry, sweet raspberry, rich, rich flavors are uplifted by a well integrated streak of fresh fruit, hints of white pepper and spices, and a long, long finish. The '05 is more balanced wine than last year's '04, and explodes in the mouth with intense layers of fruit. An example of a Zinfandel that is at once lovely for sipping yet will work with many foods. Grapes for this wine came from both Hillside and Erickson Road Vineyards.

if you like the fruit and floral scent of Abbot's Table, try
Owen Roe Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc 06 $37.76/$41.95
The 2006 Rosa Mystica Cab Franc is all about elegance and sophistication. The aromas are complex--bright red berry, perfume, and cedar. Initially, the wine is supple and delicate, hiding a richness and depth that fleshes out with a minute or two of air. It's surprisingly drinkable now for a young wine, and will win over even the most ardent Cab Franc "non-believer."

If you like the classic Bordeaux blends of
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, try

Owen Roe Yakima Red 05 $37.80/$42.00
One of the most intoxicating noses of any red wine I've tried. Heady and luscious black cherry gushes into your senses, complemented by streaks of red berries and cherries, perfectly integrated toast and Yakima earth, smoke, nutmeg, distant roasted coffee, and it still keeps unraveling.

After airing, absolutely velvety flavors of black cherries are layered with dark raspberries and sweet cherries.  Sure, the tannins are there but they’re woven perfectly into the mouth-coating texture of the wine.  The finish reiterates all the wonderful fruit you can’t wait ‘til the next glass to get more of, mingling with pink peppercorns, tiny hints of dried herbs, cloves, cream and cocoa shavings. 41.4% Cab, 37.9% Merlot, 20.7% Cabernet Franc

If you like the rich flavors
of Walla Walla fruit, try

Owen Roe Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon 06 $37.80/$42.00
David O'Reilly's take on the beautifully ripe fruit of Walla Walla. A more showy wine, the 06 Walla Walla Cab lays its lush cards on the table. Deep aromas of dark berries and cassis, mocha, desert herbs, and barrel spice. An intense core of fruit pleases right now, but there's plenty of structure to go for years. A tiny production Cab from a warmer vineyard than Owen Roe's Yakima Valley wines.

If you like a big, meaty,
dense and chewy wine, try

Owen Roe Ironbird Cabernet Sauvignon 06 $26.05/$28.95
Owen Roe's Ironbird Cabernet Sauvignon 06 is a big, meaty, masculine wine, dense and chewy, calling out for grilled red meat. Very limited, only 160 cases made, we have a tiny amt of this Cab, usually sold only at the winery. Made from Southern Oregon fruit, the Ironbird Vineyard produces "everything he could want", according to winemaker David O'Reilly.
